Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks

Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks is the NPS concession in Glacier Bay National Park offering guided or unguided day kayak adventures, kayak rentals and outfitting. A small, locally owned business located in Gustavus, they have been helping experienced, independent campers plan their multi-day kayak adventures in Glacier Bay since 1978. GBSK has a long history of working closely with NPS to educate campers about Leave No Trace (LNT) principles and wildlife protection regulations. They collaborated with NPS to develop the original backcountry orientation for Glacier Bay campers, which outlined guidelines for low impact camping techniques, many specifically tailored to the unique environment of Glacier Bay. They continue to educate kayakers, develop and support environmental stewardship initiatives, and share insights with NPS staff in order to maintain the highest level of wilderness experience for the backcountry visitor. Responsible tourism is paramount in both their operational practices and day tours, but is also reflected in their continuing commitment to being a contributing member to their community and regional conservation and service organizations. Through these efforts, it is Glacier Bay Sea Kayak’s goal that Alaska’s pristine wild lands may continue to be enjoyed by future generations who will feel a sense of place.
